101 Dalmatians | 1996 | G | - 1.3.1
The live action version of the famous children's story and animated feature.
SEX/NUDITY 1 - Kissing, sexual innuendo, cleavage-revealing outfits.
VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - Reckless driving and biking, a dog bites a hand, a dog attacks a man. Bruising on a man's face, some blood on a man's cheek, a man with a scarred neck and mouth. Face slaps and punches, head bumps, lots of falls and stumbles. Rough handling of puppies and a pitchfork is driven into a haystack in an attempt to puncture said puppies. Men are electrocuted and thrown from the jolt. A car fire, property damage, scuffles. Some yelling.
LANGUAGE 1 - A mild British expression is used a couple of times as an expletive.
DISCUSSION TOPICS - The kidnapping and killing of dogs, the fashion industry.
MESSAGE - Harming animals is wrong; fashion can be a perverted institution.
CAVEATS
Be aware that while we do our best to avoid spoilers it is impossible to disguise all details and some may reveal crucial plot elements.
We've gone through several editorial changes since we started covering films in 1992 and older reviews are not as complete & accurate as recent ones; we plan to revisit and correct older reviews as resources and time permits.
Our ratings and reviews are based on the theatrically-released versions of films; on video there are often Unrated, Special, Director's Cut or Extended versions, (usually accurately labelled but sometimes mislabeled) released that contain additional content, which we did not review.
FILTER by RATINGS
Did you know you can now filter searches by any combination of ratings? Just go to our search page or use the search bar, with or without a keyword, from the top navigation menu. Move sliders from 0-10 in any combination, check and uncheck MPAA ratings and use keywords to further filter results -- please let us know what you think.
THE ASSIGNED NUMBERS
Unlike the MPAA we do not assign one inscrutable rating based on age but 3 objective ratings for SEX/NUDITY, VIOLENCE/GORE & LANGUAGE on a scale of 0 to 10, from lowest to highest depending on quantity & context |more|
