Want to know the secret to fully enjoying Instagram? You don't have to cultivate the perfect Close Friends list or use hashtags to get maximum engagement on your posts. You simply need to follow a bunch of cute animals.
Selfies, food p*rn, and sunset pics are nice to look at on occasion, but they definitely grow old after years of scrolling the app. What one simply cannot tire of, however, are photos of delightfully playful, furry, friendly-looking pets.
Recently, the world lost two of the most famous animals on Instagram, Grumpy Cat and Lil Bub, and though we still have Marnie the Dog and Doug the Pug to remind us of a time when the internet was truly great, there's no reason we can't expand our following lists to include some other precious animal accounts.
If you're looking to add some cuteness to your Instagram feed, here are 20 of our favorite online animals.
1. Sam, the cat with eyebrows
Cats are good, but cats with expressive little eyebrows that make them look like they just committed a light crime are simply better.
2. Bertram the Pomeranian
Bertram is a chocolate Pomeranian who was adopted from an Oklahoma shelter. Bertram, who looks like little a baby brown bear, now lives in New York and works at an art gallery. Fancy!
3. Mr. Pokee the hedgehog
Follow Mr. Pokee to see a cute, adventurous hedgehog travel the world with some animal pals.
4. Popeye the Foodie
If you love food, great fashion, and adorable fluffy pups with swinging ears, please follow Popeye the Foodie. You won't regret it.
5. Dunder Kitten
If you're a fan of the NBC comedy The Office, here is a cat literally named Michael Scott. The Dunder Kitten account celebrates some of the greatest quotes and scenes from the show. World's best cat.
6. Norm the pug
You may already know Norm as the precious pug who used to be photographed every day of his life, but if not, trust us — this adventure-loving guy deserves a follow.
7. This Chiweenie named Tuna
Tuna the Chiweenie (a mixed-breed cross between a Chihuahua and dachshund) is known for loving life and having beautiful teeth.
8. Jack the co*ckatiel
Mix up your cat and dog-heavy timelines by following Jack, a curious co*ckatiel with posts that would make even the most popular human Instagram influencers jealous.
9. Charlotte the tortoise
You know Pete Souza, former White House photographer for Barack Obama? Welp, he has a tortoise named Charlotte. Very important.
10. Maple the cat
Maple is a feline with stunning eyes who's described as a "golden British shorthair boy," and a "wholesome and squishy chonk." Who wouldn't want to follow?
11. Oliver the dog
If you've ever wanted to see a puppy that looks exactly like a teddy bear, then Oliver, a 9-month-old Spitzpoo from Norway, is the dog for you.
12. Juniper and friends
Following Juniper, a gorgeous fox, is especially great because you also get to see appearances by her animal pals, Mushroom, Fig, Scales, and Elmwood. What a fam.
13. Mocha the lab
Mocha is a sweet chocolate lab who lives in Istanbul, Turkey, and loves the beach.
14. Suki Cat
Another adventurous, globe-trotting cat with gorgeous eyes and breathtaking Instagram photos? OK!
15. Willamina the Yorkie
Willy, a professional nap taker, is one stylish, quirky, unique, and extremely hairy Yorkie. We're obsessed with her!
16. Chopin, the flying hedgehog
From the first moment I saw Chopin's account (which was originally Darcy the hedgehog's account, then Matthew the hedgehog's), I fell in love. Each and every post from the costume-wearing, holiday-loving hedgehog will boost your mood. It's the law!
17. Henry and Baloo
Henry the dog and Baloo the cat are two inseparable rescues who love exploring, napping together, and doing essentially any other best friend activities you can imagine.
18. Maya the Samoyed
Maya has a beautiful fluffy white coat, kind eyes, and a real zest for life. Don't you think?
19. Norbert the dog
This smol therapy dog is known for his lovable face, droopy tongue, and love of high-fives. As Norbert's bio says, "Welcome to the Norberthood."
20. Pringle the bearded dragon
Finally, we leave you with Pringle, the bearded dragon that loves acting like a person. Pringle lives in Geelong, Australia, and enjoys grocery shopping, eating mango, playing video games, and general cosplay. A true inspiration.
Thank you to all the humans out there who made these animals' Instagram accounts. Animal accounts are so much better than human ones.
