My favorite tool for making guacamole is Homemade Guacamole Recipe (4)my absolute favorite kitchen tool - my magic bullet! I've had blenders, juicers, and food processors, and none compare to my magic bullet, I love it!

You can make this recipe by hand, in a food processor, or in a magic bullet; whichever works for you. If you decide to use a food processor or magic bullet-like appliance, be sure to pulse and check your guacamole often to get your preferred consistency - it's easy to make it too creamy very quickly! The best suggestion I have is to pulse two to three times then check, keep doing that till you achieve the perfect consistency for your recipe.

A sure sign that avocados are a popular American food is the amount consumed on Super Bowl Sunday - 53 million pounds of avocados are used in dip recipes, on sandwiches and in salads on Super Bowl Sunday! I'm sure we're consuming almost as much during the summer months when avocados are appearing more and more in our homes and restaurants in great salad recipes and as sandwich spreads. The avocado is now even being served at quick food places like Subway.

Tips

  • Avoid browning by storing with a layer of plastic wrap pressed over the top of your guacamole before covering the dish with foil or a lid.
  • Sprinkle lime juice or lemon juice on sliced avocado to keep it from turning brown as you serve your dip.
  • Use ripe avocados.
  • After removing the pit, use a large serving spoon to scoop the avocado out of it's peel, then slice, chop or mash the avocado for your recipe.
