A goat, kangaroo, cat, fox, and a wombatwere amongst the list of animals I dodged on my rapid drive from Bathurst to Tamworth last night. They made up part of the majestic scenery that I drove through in regional NSW yesterday.Living in a coastal city, it's easy to forget how amazing country Australia actually is - and how much there is of it.It's easy to see why so much industry still remains in regional centres - the obvious logistics of their raw materials aside. In this day and age of video conferencing, online chats and emails, it's easy to dismiss face to face contact as a relic of the past. But I still find a lot of value visiting customers where they're at.It's much easier to get a real sense of the environments they work in when you're there.See the real challenges they're facing. And get a true sense of their frustrations. These are nuances in the face to face interactions that are impossible for me to figure out through a monitor or electronic text. And as much as I hate being on the road, that's overruled by how much I love learning about the details of what our customers do, how they do it, and how we can help them. These days I’m always looking for an excuse to hit the road and dive into the unique challenges you’re facing. Drop me a line if you’re up for a visit

This year, I'm making a concerted effort to keep talking to clients. We're all busy people and clients mustn't feel forgotten. You don't have to move in with them but setting up a client call or a Facetime/Zoom/Teams call can be enough.Share your tips for staying connected with your clients.#marketingtips

New house, new office. Putting a little work into your zoom background makes sense when you deliver via zoom. 99.9% of what I do with clients is over zoom. That’s right, most of my clients have never met me in real life. I work with teams and entrepreneurs from all over the world. There is a great sweet spot between calling and in person selling and it’s called video chat selling. Zoom, teams, FaceTime, discord all have video call options. Seeing the face is one of the best ways to build trust with colder relationships, not the phone and not email. It doesn’t have to be extensive but a little effort into your video call set up works wonders for your conversational quality. Now, how should I position these?

3 ways to make your virtual meetings more engaging1 ask questions and encourage participation in the chat so that people feel included2 look into the camera to give the impression of eye contact - and make sure it’s the right camera if you have two screens!!3 get people moving - they might have been sat at their desk all day so give them the opportunity to stand up and have a wiggle!Bonus: use a standing desk - you’d never give a real life presentation sitting down so don’t do it online eitherWhat did I miss?#LITrendingTopics

Zoom TipDid you know that you can see if the meeting is being recorded when a meeting is in progress? When a recording is in progress, you will see an icon in the top left-hand side of the Zoom window that lets you know that the meeting is being recorded.#smallbusiness #smallbusinessadvice #timesaving
