Funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law are already being disbursed around the country –below is a small but illustrative snapshot of the kinds of projects that the BIL has funded in its first two years:1. The City of Detroit was awarded $104 million to replace the sunken I-375 freeway with a lower-speed, pedestrian-friendly boulevard. In the 1960s, this freeway displaced thousands of Black residents in the Black Bottom and Paradise Valley communities. https://lnkd.in/e_VsApjr 2. $8.72 million is going to the Hopi Arsenic Mitigation Project in Arizona to remove the arsenic that has contaminated the Tribe’s water supply since the 1960s.https://lnkd.in/eQV5XdjF 3. The Atlantic County Special Services School District in Atlantic City, NJ was awarded $1.5 million to replace diesel school buses with zero-emissions buses to improve students’ air quality.https://lnkd.in/eG_apekR 4. $10 million is going to Donaldsonville, Louisiana, to modernize and improve the safety of the city’s legacy natural gas pipelines that currently pose major health risks to community members. https://lnkd.in/eMm6mnWe 5. Kentucky’s Greenup County School District is receiving $15 million to install solar panels, upgrade buildings, and launch a Green Energy Pathways career program for high schoolers to learn about the green energy industry.https://lnkd.in/en-tyRqB 6. The Maryland Equitable Charging Infrastructure Partnership received $15 million to deploy 58 EV charging stations at housing and municipal sites in EJ communities. Workers who have been historically underrepresented will also be supported to join the EV industry. https://lnkd.in/er4iXtQ2 Check out our full report here to read about more BIL success stories that can inspire future grant applications and an in-depth analysis of the Law: https://lnkd.in/ei_AvCVx
